Super fun. Big axe energy. Christmas vibes. Courtly politeness immediately derailed by a guy who is absolutely unbothered by decapitation. I love how you lay the story out as both fairytale spectacle and layered inheritance. The beheading game always reads like a ritual dare. Violence with a calendar reminder. Such a clean illustration of how chivalry isn’t about perfection, it’s about exposure. Gawain doesn’t fail because he’s cowardly, he fails because he’s human and wants to live. That always hits! This story is so deeply pagan-brained and Christian-wrapped, and your notes on the Irish and Welsh roots make that synthesis feel intentional. It’s tradition composting itself into something sharper. This was a joy to read. Myth, mud, green blood, and genealogy all in one place. Exactly the kind of Christmas tale I want.

Amazingly well said! Thank you. I think the synthesis of Pagan and Christian themes runs extremely deep, and was happening with the earliest of Arthurian poetry, such as Kadeir Teyrnon, and Preiddeu Annwfn.
